Why? I have asked this question several times in my life. I don't think there is one answer, but several reasons that could explain why is that the growing old process happens the way it happens.
Both the beginning and the end are filled with unreasonable temporary lack of awareness. We are born in the innocence of novelty amusement and grow old in the darkness of hopeless fears of the unknown pain...
